In honor of St. Patrick's Day this month, I thought it'd be fun to try our hands at Irish soda bread. I do like the sound of a bread that requires very little kneading.
Epicurious has an interesting Q&A with an Irish chef on the ins and outs of soda bread: its history and what goes into a traditional loaf, among other things. The page also links to seven of the editors' favorite soda bread recipes:
White Soda Bread
Irish Soda Bread with Raisins and Caraway
Brown Soda Bread
Noreen Kinney's Irish Soda Bread
Mini Walnut Soda Breads
Brown Butter Soda Bread
Soda Bread with Dark Chocolate and Candied Orange Peel
I don't know about you, but that Brown Butter Soda Bread (with oats, browned butter, rosemary, and ground black pepper) sounds and looks mighty delicious. How about we each pick whichever one we want to try and compare notes at the end of the month?
